Cadel Does It!

Epic Evans has done it with time to spare and only seconds off winning the time trial. Brilliant! I will have to stay up to see the triumphant ride to Paris, so I shall probably fall asleep during assembly tomorrow at school. No matter. All Australian should be celebrating. The Tour is the largest and longest annual sports event in the world. It's truly international and demands the kind of determination and stamina that football players of any code can only dream of, and this year an Australian will stand on the top of the podium for the first time in the history of the event. The State of Victoria should welcome our hero home in style because he deserves it. Even the commentators last night could hardly contain themselves.
Bravo Cadel!

Race Around the Kitchen 0r Masterchef Meets the Big Apple

What is happening to Masterchef? What has finding your way around the Big Apple to do with being a good cook and when will someone sock Danni in the mouth? The programme reached an all time low when the four contestants went to Silvia's to cook soul food. How could anyone expect to feel the love when the task involved four deep fry chickens in 3 deep fryers? I'm surprised Sun wanted to hug anyone after that experience.
Maybe I'll watch a movie on Sunday night.

Hedgehog Body Clock

Just watched the documentary on the Human Body Clock and what with all the small changes I'm having to make to my life, it was good to learn which other changes would be good and which wouldn't be. It would seem that 'Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and supper like a pauper' has more truth in it than just an old wives' saying. Splitting carbs and proteins has meant less food in the evening, so I'm on the right track there and also preferring exercise in late afternoon to the morning run. What a relief that I don't have to indulge in the morning jog! Back to the after school walk and evening yoga. I've now reached 57 kg - on track for 56kg at the weekend. Now all I have to do is get the sleep patterns on track. This time of year I'm in hedgehog hibernation mode. The bed's warm and I'm happy to sleep all day.
I know my passion for Le Tour does have an impact. Not that I can possibly wait for the recording - look what happened when I went to bed early - Johnny Hoogerland and Fletcha will never forgive me! It's bad enough that they will have to manage without me once I start work again - and they'll be in the mountains - oh dear.

Using Sketch Book Pro

On my last day of total holiday frivolity, I've spent some time playing with SBP and having a wonderful time. Wish I had more time to play. I have an ancient WACOM sketch pad which I used to make a simple pencil drawing for my other blog (The Mantle Chronicles) and feel quite proud of the results. As it has the same layering structure as Photoshop etc I can now go on and have lots of fun turning the drawing into all sorts of things. There's every sort of medium you can think of (can't wait to try airbrush) and I don't have to smell one drop of linseed oil or wash a single brush.
Tomorrow, the garden gets my full attention (if it doesn't rain) and I'll be able to indulge in my favourite outdoor activity for this time of year - bonfires!

The Dreaded Bloggers have arrived!

In one fateful day, we've moved from blissful ignorance to manic blogging fruitcakes! Granted, one of us is doing a course where she has to set up and maintain a blog but for the rest of us - there's no excuse. It's like facebook and iPad games all over again. Will we ever learn? Didn't we guess that when the design options gave us so much choice that we spent half an hour just working through the backgrounds and a further hour going through the colour schemes, we'd be ensnared? When waiting impatiently for our first hit overtook the burning desire to find our who replaced Matt on Masterchef, we should have been cautious.
Alas! Too late. Two blogs later and I'm energised - like the students who have taken on multiple tamagotchis!  (I have no idea how that's spelt - and incredibly it doesn't seem to matter. LOL! OMG

Life Long Learner 1

Okay, so let's start small - baby steps to begin with.
Q. Why the blog?
A. Why not? It's a great way to add a new dimension to my classroom when I'm teaching and when I'm wearing my writer's hat (which I intend to do more frequently), it's a good testing ground for ideas. Besides the last editors that I approached seemed a bit stunned that I hadn't 'put myself out there' with a blog. So be prepared for my comments and ramblings on a whole heap of threads (maybe).
Q. What have I learnt today?
A. How to set up my blog, play with the settings and if you are seeing this as a follower - then I've totally succeeded.
Many thanks Blogger - I hope!
